Hollywood goes holly-day at The State on Sunday, December 2!
Santa Claus and his elves arrive for the mini paparazzi fans, then holiday tales are told by local storyteller. After stories, enjoy "The Santa Clause" on the big screen. Hot cocoa, cookies, and candy canes will be available, too. YUM!
Built in the Art Deco era of the 1930's, The State Theater, with its bright marquee and outdoor lights, is a downtown Modesto anchor. While The State is ancient in comparison to the other very recently built valley theaters, it has been recently renovated and features a posh lobby, plush seating, and a beautifully detailed and artistic main theater, boasting a state-of-the-art sound system, theatrical lighting, and a fabulous new movie screen.
There is so much to see and do at The State, you are not far from a true fine arts experience: art house movies, independent and revival films, live concerts, poetry slams, lectures, the annual Reel Food Film Festival. To find out what is coming soon, visit The State Theatre's calendar. While not all events are what most might consider family fare, exposing children to this sort of historical entertainment mecca isn't a bad idea!
