Held annually on the third weekend in May, the Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jumping Jubilee is steeped in rich history. During the area's gold mining heyday, Calaveras County was prosperous and attracted many visitors including Samuel Clemens, or as he is commonly known, Mark Twain. A trip to Angels Camp inspired Twain to pen "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," and since, the Calaveras County Fair has included frog jumping as one of its signature events.
Today, the fair features local food, arts, and wine exhibits; musical, dance, and variety entertainment; rodeo, horse events, and livestock exhibits; as well as a great carnival for those of any age.
The 2013 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee runs from May 16 - 19. Discounted tickets and carnival wristbands may be purchased online until May 15, and of course tickets are available at the event. KIDS UNDER 12 ARE FREE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY ONLY. Children under the age of 5 are FREE all days.

I used a "Half-Price Hookup" to purchase admission tickets to the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, and thank goodness I did. If I'd had to pay full price for fair admission, I'd have been even more disappointed with the fair than I was.
