Since 1923, the Modesto and Turlock Irrigation Departments have operated Don Pedro Lake (known also as Lake Don Pedro and Don Pedro Reservoir).  In the 60's, the City and County of San Francisco stepped in to help sponsor the building of a larger reservoir and since 1971, over 14 million visitors have gone to enjoy the hundreds of miles of shoreline as well as the thousands of acre-feet of water surface.

There are three boat launching areas at Don Pedro Lake: two near the Area Headquarters off of Bonds Flat Road on the main body of the lake, and one at the Moccasin Point Recerational Area.  For more information, please view the map.  If looking for houseboating opportunities, know that the lake offers houseboat rentals and an open invite for privately owned houseboats.

Fishing is allowed year-round; be sure to have a license if fishing.  The lake stocks bass, crappie, trout, salmon, catfish, sunfish, blue gill and carp.

Three camping areas are available at Don Pedro Lake, corresponding to the three marina and boat launches.  To reserve camping sites, click here.

A number of activities will keep visitors busy from the shore: picnicking, lagoon swimming, hiking and more await!
