Plan to go for the day and relish in the nap your worn out youngster will take that afternoon. The morning hours can be spent on the many playgrounds, free-standing climbing structures and the famous "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe" slide... Lunch is available for purchase at the Dish and Spoon Café, where typical attraction fare is available, but the organic and vegetarian foods are often just as tasty; outside food may be brought in the park if you prefer to pack your own.
After lunch, head over to Mr. McGregor's Garden, which often has hands on workshops in seed germination, worm composting, and other basic gardening skills. Both the Mother Goose Stage and the Children's Theater will provide visitors with a variety of entertainment, but check the calendar before going to know what will be featured.
Between 3 and 4pm each day, the resident animals of the park are fed. Watch and pet the many lambs, Vietnamese pot-belly pigs, Nigerian Dwarf goats, rabbits, donkey, Irish Dexter cow, chickens once they've had their fill.

Dislike this park. Our trip to Sac zoo and Fairytale town was depressing!. Fairytale town is a over glorified park that you have to pay to get into. Don't waste your money.

So much fun! It was a beautiful park and perfect for our young children. We brought our lunch and had a picnic in the park. Lots of slides, play structures, animals and much more. we will definitely do this again!

Fairytale town was a waste of money. There wasn't much more there than a standard park with the exception of the two animals they had in the petting zoo. Maybe if you spent the extra money to have a birthday party it would be better. And the fact the parents get charged for admission is ridiculous. All in all I wasn't impressed with the park or the zoo. I think we will try Fresno next time.

Fairytale Town is a truly beautiful park for younger children and the adults who appreciate a space sized for the preschool and young grade school set. What a child and a parent might most enjoy here is a chance to run around, climb, climb, climb, and slide through a few hours of the day.
Slides are worked into many of the "sets" at Fairytale Town. My children's favorites were Owl's House, and the Red Barn. A few very young...more

This is a beautiful place to come and spend a few hours with your little ones. It's primarily geared for preschool/kindergarden age but if you have a fun loving older child they will enjoy it as well. It is located across from the Sacramento zoo and a small amusement park for younger children. Bring your own lunch and enjoy the day. We have never done a party there but we've seen them and they look very nice.
