Just got back yesterday from 4 day trip to Hollister. If you ride and have not been to Hollister then you have to go. There are trails and tracks for every ability level.

My family was a part of a 5-family group with about 13 kids. Some of the highlight family rides included trips to the lake (not a swimming lake; more of a picnic area), high canyon road and for the dad's Jays Way and Peat's Pass (black diamonds).
/> If you have skied then you are familiar with the green circle (easiest), blue square (medium) and black diamond (most difficult) rating system. Riding trails and tracks are marked with name and rating. What is even better is that a majority of trails are one-way. This is great with little ones because there is one less thing to worry about.

Weekends can get crowded but the place is huge. If weather is good and both sides of the mountain are open then there is more than enough room for everyone. If you need gear, parts or simple service there is a store that has very reasonable prices and a good selection (check out the bargain bins).

The drive from Modesto is about 2.5 hours (that is pulling a fifth wheel) and is very simple. Google map directions and stick to the back roads.

Don't hesitate or think twice about it...gas up and get out there. You will have a blast....more
