SUMMER CAMPS

Each summer, the Juline School of Dance faculty organizes a highly-attended dance and art camp. This typically takes place throughout the third week of June, and is available to ages 5 and up.  A morning or afternoon session gives your child a three-hour chunk of creative playtime with peers, supervised and directed by Central West Ballet company dancers.  At the end of the week, parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to come and watch a full show, featuring the dances learned and full scenery completed by the students.

For more focused dance study, a summer intensive program is available for some dance genres and levels.

I love that Juline School of Dance has a "Homeschool Division" that offers classes during school hours. They even handle the billing/paperwork with your charter school.

The studio is very family-friendly and dedicated to age appropriate self-expression, which means that there is no booty-shakin' for the little folks. They don't sponsor a competition team, but that doesn't mean they aren't serious about dance. One of their main teachers (Miss Coleen) holds an M.F.A in dance and also teaches at Modesto Junior College and the director of their Pre-Professional division danced with San Francisco Ballet up until last season. You really can't go wrong with a studio that has so much history, education, and family values!...more

My eldest daughter has taken ballet, tap, and jazz classes at Juline School of Dance for 8 years, while my younger daughter has taken elementary ballet and tap on and off for 3 years.

The instruction at Juline is solid, as the dance instructors have had many years of dance instruction themselves, and often have been previous dancers at Juline throughout their own childhood. We have never been disappointed in a teacher or class offered.

The annual end-of-year show is quite low-key, held outdoors at Mancini Bowl in Graceada Park, and has been for years and years. It's a great time, with family and friends packed in on the grass in and around the Bowl, enjoying the show and picnics.

My daughters have also participated in many of the summer programs offered. My older daughter, who is a pre-pointe student, took last summer's "Elevate" program, a 6-week intensive ballet study that also had week-long focuses on other dance genres. This was somewhat expensive but well worth it. She has grown into a stronger, more graceful dancer. My younger daughter takes the casual dance and art camp each June. This program is just one week long, a few hours a day, and culminates in a very cute, really well executed show on the last day. Participants learn dances, make props and stage decorations, listen to stories and create take-home art.
