Crisp fall mornings often conjure up one distinct image for the birdies in these parts: SOCCER. The MYSA is one of the area's largest soccer associations, with hundreds of players registered each year.
RECREATIONAL LEAGUE PLAY
Children will play on teams that are gender-specific. Which league the player is placed in is based on his or her age as of July 31st of play year. MYSA has six leagues: under 6, U8, U10, U12, U14, and U19.
All games are played on Saturdays, on various fields throughout Modesto. Teams typically practice once or twice a week, depending on the coach's style of instruction and his or her own schedule, as coaches for the association are parent volunteers.
Yearly cost for 4 and 5 year olds is $105, 6-18 year olds will need to pay $115; however, discounts are given to families with multiple players registering. Registration ends May 1st of each play year.
COMPETITIVE LEAGUE PLAY
Ajax United is the competitive league within MYSA. Try-outs for this team are required, and the competition is stiff. Players (and their families) must be willing to travel for tournament play.
The AJAX United Academy is open to MYSA players 5-9 years old, and there are three sessions througout the year. Each session is eight weeks long and meets once a week. The skill-building Academy costs $50 per session or $10 per practice.

This is our 2nd year in soccer with MYSA and I highly recommend this organization. They are very organized and all games are played at the same location which is the Mary Grogan Soccer Complex. This makes it easier if you have multiple children playing the sport. With registration, each child receives a jersey, shorts, and socks.
