Chocolate and candy fans of ALL ages descend upon Wood Park in Oakdale on the third weekend in May each year.  Come with an empty stomach and enjoy the chocolatey treats the whole day long!  Stroll down Chocolate Avenue where fudge, truffles, chocolate ice cream and chocolate cheesecakes are only the tip of the cocoa nib.

Local bands and variety show talent will keep you entertained while you allow the first course of chocolate foods to settle, celebrity chefs and their cooking demonstrations will awe you while you work through the second course, and the third course can be had after the kids have enjoyed the Kid's Land game area and you've ventured through the arts & crafts and commercial vendor booths and admired all of the classic cars on display.  There is, of course, a wide variety of other foods such as hot dogs, famous and local Lockeford sausages, funnel cakes, smoothies, and giant onion rings.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for only $3 from participating locations, coupons are available at local Cold Stone Creamery stores, or bring a canned food item to the gate for $1 off admission.

This is a dog-friendly event; dogs on a leash will be admitted.

Preemptive strike?  The One Mile Run and the 5K Fun Run might help you feel a little bit better about devouring all the chocolatey goodness later.

Took the family to the Oakdale Chocolate festival this past weekend.. Since I used to work the festival in high school so many years ago, I thought my children would enjoy it as well. It was great seeing old friends and was rather surprised that they still had the festival. With the Hershey's plant shut down a few years ago, I wasn't quite sure what the purpose of the chocolate festival was any longer.

The chocolate vendors gave out small samples of the chocolate they were selling. I remember the crowds being large and this year didn't quite meet my expectations. My kids loved it though, of course, what child wouldn't like pony rides ( like the Stanislaus County Fair has), or the kiddie rides.

I love the town of Oakdale, so anytime there is a rodeo parade, chocolate festival, or any other function, I love supporting them. This festival, as I came to find out, is a place for this small community to gather and have some Spring fun! We don't need the Hershey plant... but, if there is chocolate, people will come! I loved their new advertising they had, especially in modbee.com...
