I don't know about other locations, but I've never been impressed with the Modesto Strings. I've dined there three times now — once without children, which was the ONLY time I had even decent service — and will not be going back on my own accord.

While the food is fine (it is Italian, after all), the waitstaff leaves a whole lot to be desired. We are rarely checked in on after the food had been brought to the table, we often sit for an uncomfortably long time after eating before the check arrives, and on one occasion, the server actually told me that I couldn't share my salad with my then-toddler.

IF this is YOUR favorite restaurant, you must be lucky enough to be regularly waited on by the only server I've ever seen there with an ounce of courtesy. This particular server stopped to help us when our assigned server left us hanging mid-meal. She herself had children and empathized with our daughter who's food was much too hot to eat; the server brought out more bread to our daughter and offered her her own bowl of salad to eat while she waited for the sauce to cool....more
